Founded in 1982 by a group of physicians, the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation has blossomed into a leading center for cardiovascular research and education. For more on our history, click here.
Today, MHIF acts in a wide variety of arenas to create a world without heart disease. Some of our highlights include:
· Researching 150 active studies.
· Leading the way on adult stem cell therapy -- One of only five National Centers for this important work.
· Publishing 100 articles annually in peer reviewed journals – among the most publications of any cardiovascular research group nationwide.
· Reducing mortality rates by 50% statewide with an innovative and collaborative heart attack protocol now being exported to states around the country.
· Developing life-saving treatments to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy through our internationally recognized HCM Center.
· Working with kids and parents to establish heart-healthy behaviors in young people.
· Teaching physicians, nurses, EMTs and other health care professionals around the world to give them the latest information on saving lives of cardiovascular patients.
· Developing innovative Heart of New Ulm project to explore community-wide interventions to eliminate heart attacks.
· Empowering people with knowledge they need to manage their heart health.
