Health and Wellness Education
The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation is committed to creating a world without heart disease. We know that helping Americans be more active, eat better and stop smoking has the potential to prevent 80% of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes, and 40% of cancer (CDC). Our goal is to provide individuals, worksites and communities with the tools, skills and knowledge they need to make the healthy choice the easy choice. Our experts are prepared to provide credible, practical and effective guidance to ensure individuals are empowered to protect their health and reduce their risk of the number one killer, heart disease.

Your Heart and You
This comprehensive presentation explains heart disease, its risk factors and assists the audience in understanding their cholesterol numbers and key behaviors to prevent heart disease. It empowers the audience to act now for a healthier life which will later prevent heart disease. It also guides the audience to online resources for better heart health.
What’s Your Risk Picture? Know Your Numbers
Describes risk factors, and provides specific action steps to decrease your risk of heart disease. Understand what cholesterol is and how to achieve desirable values. This presentation pairs nicely with cholesterol and blood pressure screening.
Healthy Eating for a Healthy Heart
Describes the key components of a heart healthy diet. Identifies several on-line tools to examine your own diet and eating patterns and offers information about how to improve them. Includes practical healthy eating strategies that can improve high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and tips to decrease your fat intake and cook with healthier fats.
Physical Activity for Heart and Health
Identifies how exercise works to counteract heart disease risk factors and how it benefits our overall physical and emotional health. The components of a balanced exercise program are discussed and strategies to overcome barriers and stay motivated are shared.

Children today are bombarded with messages to consume, consume, consume. This makes a parents’ job more challenging than ever when it comes to instilling healthy eating habits. Learn about which strategies are most effective to raising healthy eaters and which ones to avoid!
Interactive Displays
Our interactive education displays are perfect for health fairs or other drop in education opportunities. The cost is $325 for events up to 3 hours. Events longer than 3 hours will be charged an extra $40 per hour. Additional fees may be added for materials with large groups and travel outside the Twin Cities area. Displays include:
- One health educator
- Posters, props and other visual aids
- Interactive component, which may include food samples, quiz questions or a game
- Small incentives to engage participants
- Handouts or recipes for take-home information
