What Food Does the Heart Like?

If you were told you could have a snack this afternoon and were given a choice between a candy bar or a piece of your favorite fruit, which would you choose? Which do you think your heart would choose?

Which Foods?

There are no bad foods and it is okay to eat foods listed at the top of the food pyramid - they should be eaten in small quantities and less frequently than other foods. We need to be sure that we are making wise heart-healthy food choices, limit the amount of sweets and fats, and eat a variety of foods from each of the food groups. Each of the five food groups provide important, vital nutrients for a strong healthy body.
