The heart is picky and likes certain foods that make its job easier. Some of those foods are not always the ones that our taste buds crave. Eating too much sugar, fat and cholesterol is bad for your heart. The food pyramid can help us make wise and heart-healthy food choices. We want to eat a variety of food from each food group because we need the different nutrients that are found in each food group. Our heart wants us to eat more foods from the bottom (breads, cereals, fruits and vegetables) and the middle of the pyramid (meats and dairy) and less from the top (fats and sweets). |
