Your gifts in 2003, along with those of thousands of others, helped the
Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) have the best year yet for
fundraising. But, as you know, it’s not as much about the money as it is about
lives transformed and lives saved through our worldrenowned research and
education programs. Last year, our education staff presented more than 460
programs in schools, corporations, and community centers throughout the state
of Minnesota. The research division had nearly 100 studies underway at any
given time during the year, making us the largest cardiovascular research
center in Minnesota and among the ten largest centers in the country.
An outstanding research and education organization can address medical community
needs quickly and efficiently. Opportunities to improve patient care and
prevent cardiovascular disease are limited only by our resources. Moreover, our
research program is a tremendous opportunity to evaluate new devices for
Minnesota’s medical technology industry.

Research funding from traditional sources – primarily federal agencies and the
health care industry – has declined dramatically. Your support is vital as it
helps carry the MHIF research program forward and multiply its benefits for
more patients. As our cardiovascular program grows, attracting outstanding
physicians and more patients, new research opportunities will unfold. Our
education staff brings life-enhancing cardiovascular programs to schools,
community organizations, and workplaces, as well as offering individual
heart-health assessment services. In addition, we work in partnership with
other organizations to reach low-income and minority communities. These
programs are offered without charge or at cost, and require ongoing support.
As you can see, your support really makes a difference!
