2002 Spring Prevention
Program
Ask Jackie Joyner-Kersee what her limits are, and she'll say she has none. As
she often tells audiences during her motivational speeches, "The only person who
can stop you from reaching your goals is you!"
No Limits: Getting Past Everyday Barriers to Physical
Activity
Jackie Joyner-Kersee is a supremely gifted woman who overcame
many obstacles to become a champion. This two-time Olympic gold medalist and
world champion will share her inspirational story and her advice on how to stay
motivated and get past everyday barriers to being physically active. Jackie will
be joined by Mark Fenton, former editor of Walking Magazine, author and current
host of America's Walking on PBS Television. Mark is an entertaining, persuasive
and knowledgeable walking advocate and one of the nation's foremost experts on
its favorite activity. His high-energy presentation style will further excite
and inform you about the health and fitness benefits of walking, and other forms
of physical activity, while providing valuable advice on how to make it a part
of your daily life. Information and tools will also be provided to assist you in
helping make your community more walkable and physical activity
friendly.
