Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy International Summit IV to be held October 16-18 in Minneapolis
Dr. Barry Maron is hosting his fourth international summit “Diagnosis and Management of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Sudden Death Prevention — the Next 50 Years” at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis in October. Faculty from the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and China are recognized international experts in the management of HCM. 2009 Cardovascular Nursing Conference: Is Your Heart Healthier Than a 5th Grader's?
Registration for our ninth annual nursing conference is now open! This year's keynote speaker will be Dan Buettner, best-selling author of The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who've Lived the Longest. Other topics will include atrial fibrillation, stem cell therapy, therapeutic hypothermia and diastolic dysfunction. Ken Paulus, president and chief operating officer of Allina Hospitals & Clinics, will close they day with a presentation on the health of the healthcare today and what he sees for the future. Vascular Masters Program on Hemodynamic Cerebral Ischemia on 5/18/09
On Monday, May 18, 2009, Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation will present a CME dinner program from 6:00-8:30 pm on “The Resurgence of Extracranial-Intracranial (EC-IC) Bypass: Implications for Hemodynamic Cerebral Ischemia.” The keynote speaker will be Peter Rasmussen, MD, Director of Cerebrovascular Center – Neurological Institute at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. MHIF Researchers in National Spotlight at ACC.09
Researchers from the Minneapolis Heart Institute foundation at Abbott Northwestern Hospital are presenting at this year's American College of Cardiology scientific session March 29 to 31 in Orlando, Fla. Minneapolis-related highlights include: 1) The nation's largest study of stem cell therapy for heart disease; 2) The nation's largest examination of hypothermic therapy and cardiac arrest; 3) Improving survival for patients with acute aortic dissection; and 4) Sudden death among tri-athletes. CT Coronary Angiography, a Visiting Clinician Course
The CT Angiography course is a comprehensive course focused on reading and performing CT Coronary Angiography through a case-based mentored approach. The Minneapolis Heart Institute has one of the largest CTA experiences world-wide. Sheer volume of experience has helped these physicians hone the accuracy of their scan readings and has put them in demand as international CTA expert resources. They are intimately involved in setting the national standards for coronary CT lab accreditation and physician credentialing, and in developing an international board exam to ensure that reading physicians are appropriately trained to interpret coronary CT angiography.

MHIF Summer Research Intern Program
The summer internship program at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) is designed to give interns professional experience in the areas of research and cardiovascular health care. The application deadline for the 2009 program was March 2. Incomplete applications or those received after the deadline will not be considered. Vascular Masters Program on Vertebral Artery Pathology and Treatment on 1/26/09
On Monday, January 26, 2009, Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation will present a CME dinner program from 6:00-8:30 pm on “Management of the 'Forgotten' Artery: Reintroducing Vertebral Artery Pathology and Treatment.” The keynote speaker will be Ramon Berguer, MD, PhD, from the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor.

Go Red for Women in New Ulm
New Ulm has just had its first large Go Red for Women event on Feb 19, 2009 at the Holiday Inn where 290 women gathered together to celebrate and hear more about how to prevent heart disease.

The Heart of New Ulm Project Summit

The Heart of New Ulm Summit attracted over 400 people on October 28. People learned more about the Heart of New Ulm Project which aims at reducing and eventually eliminate heart attacks in the community of New Ulm, Minnesota, through identifying health risks, tracking the health of the population and providing early interventions to improve health and reduce heart disease.

Girls and Moms on the Move
A healthy program designed just for mothers and daughters (8 to 12 years old) to get healthy, be active and have fun together, while working toward the goal of running a 5K!

Womens Only Cardiac Support Group
You are invited to join the company of others who have been diagnosed with heart disease and come together to discuss their experience, strategies, and solutions to challenges encountered.

Women's Heart Health
The Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, in collaboration with the Minneapolis Heart Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, is taking a multi-pronged approach to improving women’s heart health through clinical care, education, prevention and exciting new research studies
