Title: SOLSTICE – Study Of LoSmapimod Treatment on Inflammation and InfarCt SizE
Study Sponsor: GlaxoSmtihKline through Duke Clinical Resaerch Institute (DCRI)
Principal Investigator: M. Nicholas Burke, MD
Study Synopsis: Solstice is a clinical study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of 12 weeks of dosing with Losmapimod and its effects on inflammatory markers and the size of the infarct on the heart in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (non-STEMI). Safety and effectiveness will be measured by blood tests and an optional cardiac MRI scan. Study participants are men and non-pregnant women 54 to 81 years of age who have symptoms and signs of non-STEMI and will likely go to the cardiac catheterization laboratory for a coronary angiogram/percutaneous coronary intervention (a test and procedure to open a blocked artery).
Study participants are randomized (assigned by chance) to receive study drug or placebo in a 2:1 ratio. Losmapimod is an oral drug that is started prior to the heart catheterization and continued for 12 weeks.
There are clinic follow-up appointments and a telephone call at 6 months.
Study Status: Enollment pending
